THE TASK
The task was to conceptualise, storyboard, design and animate a title sequence based on a chosen blurb.
Deliverables
• 30-60 second title sequence. (16:9) aspect ratio. 1024:576 HD (25/24fps). Exported as a .mov (Quicktime) using the H.264 codec.

Design Strategy
The blurb we chose was from The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and tells the tale of a young man in New York that works in an antique store but is also being drawn into the criminal underworld by a painting, given to him by his late mother. Owing to the selected blurb's darker tone, the visual style drew its inspiration from Dennis Villeneuve and Matt Reeves. Once that was established, the story boarding process went underway, we scouted a location at a local antique store and the title sequence was filmed and edited with two different grades meant to illustrate the double life of our main character. The brighter tones and vintage sepia film treatment indicative of the character's day job and the darker tones with security footage treatment meant to indicate to he viewer the character's presence in the criminal underworld as an antique thief and forger. The song Trouble Man by Marvin Gaye was chosen to also illustrate that the character is involved in shady business.
Great emphasis was placed on lighting and atmoshpere by use of a hazer.
